Job Overview

Wison is looking to hire a skilled HSE Engineer based in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, UAE. This role involves ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance throughout all phases of project design and execution within the oil and gas or petrochemical industries. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience managing risk, promoting safe design principles, and delivering solutions aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

The HSE Engineer will play a pivotal role in integrating safety and environmental considerations into every stage of project development. Responsibilities include ensuring designs comply with UAE federal and local regulations as well as ADNOC standards, implementing inherently safe design strategies to eliminate hazards, and applying a risk-based approach focused on minimizing risks to people, assets, and the environment.

• Implement and monitor HSE objectives to achieve As Low as Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) risk levels.
• Incorporate environmental protections by minimizing emissions and discharges affecting wildlife, air quality, marine life, and groundwater.
• Utilize Best Available Technology (BAT) to prevent and mitigate pollution.
• Assess climate change impacts related to project activities and recommend mitigations.
• Support risk reduction efforts for accidental events such as leaks, fires, and explosions.
• Advise on safe equipment selection and ensure system designs support regulatory compliance.
• Promote sustainable use of natural resources during design phases.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration to maintain HSE consistency across all engineering disciplines.

Qualifications and Experience

• NEBOSH International General Certificate or an equivalent HSE qualification is mandatory.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Science, or a related HSE discipline from a recognized institution.
• Relevant certifications such as Lead Auditor qualification for ISO 45001/ISO 14001 or equivalent.
• Proficiency in incident investigation techniques.
• 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in HSE roles supporting construction, fabrication, installation, or commissioning projects within oil and gas or petrochemical sectors.
• Strong command of English, both written and verbal; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
