Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Piping Supervisor to oversee piping operations on site, ensuring smooth workflow and compliance with safety and quality standards. The successful candidate will manage teams of welders, pipefitters, and support crews, coordinating daily activities and tracking project progress to meet established deadlines. This role requires strong technical knowledge in piping systems and an ability to coordinate seamlessly with multiple disciplines such as civil, electrical, and mechanical teams.

Key Responsibilities

The Piping Supervisor will be responsible for allocating daily tasks to the piping crew to optimize productivity and ensure efficient use of resources. Monitoring progress closely against project milestones, they will prepare regular reports highlighting work status. The role also demands meticulous coordination to avoid scheduling conflicts and technical clashes with other trades.

Interpreting complex technical documents including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), isometrics, and blueprints is vital. The supervisor will provide clear guidance on pipe fabrication methods, assembly procedures, welding sequences, and installation standards to ensure quality workmanship.

Material verification is another critical duty to confirm the correct valves, fittings, and piping materials are used prior to installation, maintaining adherence to specifications.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

Maintaining a strong safety culture on site is paramount. The supervisor will enforce the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and compliance with all site safety protocols. Management of the Permit to Work (PTW) system is required for overseeing high-risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, and heavy lifting operations.

Quality Assurance and Control

Regular inspections of pipe supports, hangers, valves, and bolts will form part of the quality assurance activities. The supervisor will oversee pressure and hydro-testing procedures, promptly addressing any technical issues or non-conformities. Prior to testing, detailed line checks and punch-listing will be conducted to identify incomplete or defective work, ensuring timely resolution.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven experience supervising piping teams in construction or industrial projects
• Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and technical drawings
• Excellent coordination skills to work with multi-discipline teams
• In-depth knowledge of pipe fabrication, assembly, and welding techniques
• Commitment to enforcing safety standards and managing Permit to Work processes
• Experience in conducting QA/QC inspections and overseeing pressure testing
