Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Safety Engineer to join our expanding team in the Eastern Province. This full-time position plays a crucial role within the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) department of an established environmental company. Reporting directly to the HSE Manager or Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing safety performance across all facility operations by implementing robust safety systems and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
The Safety Engineer will lead multiple initiatives to maintain and improve workplace safety standards. Core duties include:
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive HSE policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols aligned with national regulations and international best practices.
- Conducting thorough risk assessments, job safety analyses, and hazard identification studies to minimize operational hazards.
- Performing routine inspections of equipment and work areas to monitor safety compliance and oversee high-risk activities.
- Ensuring the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforcing safety rules company-wide.
- Managing safe work permit systems such as Hot Work, Confined Space, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
- Leading investigations into incidents to determine root causes and implementing corrective and preventive measures.
- Participating in emergency response planning and readiness drills to enhance preparedness.
- Delivering safety training programs and awareness campaigns to employees, contractors, and visitors to foster a strong safety culture.
- Driving continuous improvement efforts by recommending engineering and administrative controls to reduce risks and improve safety performance.
- Supporting compliance with ISO standards like ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
Qualifications & Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental roles, preferably within hazardous waste management, industrial operations, or heavy industries.
- Strong understanding of national safety regulations and global standards.
- Relevant professional certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, IOSH, or equivalents are highly desirable.
- Excellent skills in communication, report writing, and data analysis.
- Ability to perform under pressure while effectively handling multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and capability to work well within a team environment.
