Job Overview
Atkins is seeking a commercially focused Technical Bid Manager to join our Infrastructure and Buildings Design and Engineering team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role involves leading the bid process from initial capture through to project award, ensuring the delivery of compliant, competitive, and high-quality proposals that align with client expectations and submission deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
The Commercial Bid Manager will be responsible for driving the entire bid lifecycle. This includes leading capture planning sessions to develop winning strategies, executing corporate governance procedures, and ensuring the effective use of bid processes and tools to optimize success. Collaboration with technical teams is crucial to develop a robust commercial response aligned with the design scope, while managing risk and opportunity pricing throughout the bidding process.
Additional duties include managing the production of all bid documents to meet quality standards and deadlines, organizing bid teams for efficient work execution, leveraging offshore delivery to gain competitive advantages, and providing top-down financial estimates supported by benchmarking tools. The role also involves briefing delivery teams on commercial strategies and leading commercial audit reviews to maintain high standards during project execution.
Required Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have a proven background in the Middle East Design Consultancy sector with a successful track record in profitable project delivery. They should possess practical experience collaborating with global teams and offshore design capabilities. Strong leadership skills, assertiveness, organization, and flexibility are essential, along with confidence in engaging stakeholders at all levels to advance bid activities effectively.
Working well under tight deadlines and pressure is vital. Candidates should hold a degree or equivalent professional qualification, preferably in a design, construction, business, or marketing-related field, and have at least five years’ experience in work-winning, bids, and proposals. Familiarity with a professional services environment is advantageous. Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dynamics CRM, Adobe Acrobat, and InDesign is required, as well as experience facilitating workshops to develop winning strategies.
