Job Overview

Gulf Technical Services (GTS) is seeking a seasoned HSE Coordinator to join a long-term oil and gas project based in Ras Laffan, Qatar. This role is critical in overseeing health, safety, and environmental activities during turnaround operations on site, with a contract duration of three years, subject to extension.

Key Responsibilities

The HSE Coordinator will be responsible for managing all health, safety, and environmental aspects during project shutdowns and turnarounds. This includes coordinating HSE planning, overseeing budgeting and manpower allocation, and conducting regular safety inspections and site audits. The coordinator will review and approve Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) documents to ensure compliance with safety standards. Monitoring contractor adherence to company HSE policies, investigating incidents, and preparing detailed reports also fall under this role. Additionally, maintaining HSE records, supervising emergency preparedness including confined space rescue and fire safety procedures, and inspecting certificates for lifting equipment and hired machinery are required.

Required Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and have at least ten years of experience in a similar HSE Coordinator role within the oil and gas industry. In-depth knowledge of turnaround (shutdown) HSE management is essential. Strong expertise in risk assessments, JHA review and approval, contractor safety management, and regulatory compliance is mandatory. Familiarity with emergency response protocols, incident investigation, and statutory health and safety requirements will be critical for success in this role.
