The Financial Controller will be responsible for the end-to-end financial management of multiple events and production projects. This role involves overseeing project budgets, managing cash flow for rapid-response procurement, and providing real-time financial reporting to stakeholders. You will ensure that every event is delivered within budget while maintaining strict compliance and profitability.
Project Budgeting & Cost Control
Draft & Monitor: Collaborate with Project Managers to develop detailed event budgets (Pre-production, On-site, and Post-event).
Variance Analysis: Track actual spend against budgets in real-time, identifying potential overruns before they occur.
Margin Management: Protect project profit margins by auditing vendor quotes and negotiating payment terms.
Financial Operations & Procurement
Vendor Management: Oversee the onboarding of suppliers and ensure timely payments to freelancers, technicians, and equipment providers.
Cash Flow Management: Manage on-site “petty cash” and emergency procurement funds during the build-up and live phases of events.
Payroll: Oversee the processing of short-term project staff and freelance payroll.
Reporting & Compliance
P&L Reporting: Prepare project-specific P&L statements post-event to analyze ROI and financial performance.
Compliance: Ensure all event-related taxes (VAT, withholding tax) and insurance requirements are met across different jurisdictions.
Audit Trail: Maintain meticulous digital records of all contracts, invoices, and expense receipts for post-event audits.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of financial management experience
Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills and experience with project-based accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or SAP).
Agility: Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment where project scopes change rapidly.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, or CIMA) is highly preferred.
