Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated HSE Officer to oversee Health, Safety, and Environmental standards within catering and accommodation services in a camp setting. This role involves ensuring compliance with legal, client, and company regulations while promoting a safe and hygienic environment for both residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will implement and monitor HSE and food safety practices, conducting routine inspections and risk assessments across accommodation, kitchen, dining, and utility areas. You will identify hazards and unsafe conditions, promptly reporting and following up on corrective actions. Incident investigation and root cause analysis will also be part of your duties, alongside maintaining comprehensive records.

In addition, you will ensure food safety compliance by monitoring food handling, storage, and preparation processes in line with national and international standards such as SFDA, HACCP, and ISO 22000. Ensuring hygiene in kitchen operations, pest control, and training catering staff on hygiene practices will be critical.

Your role extends to camp welfare, including inspecting fire safety provisions, potable water supply, emergency exits, and sanitation in communal areas. You’ll support emergency drills and maintain necessary safety equipment like first aid kits and fire extinguishers. Promoting awareness about personal and community hygiene among camp residents will also be a focus.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a diploma or degree in Environmental HSE, Food Safety, or a related field, supported by certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, and HACCP Level 3. Experience in food safety audits, HSE inspections, incident reporting, and emergency response within catering or camp environments is essential. Strong skills in risk assessment, report writing, and training delivery are required, along with proficiency in MS Office tools.

Physical readiness to conduct inspections in diverse environments, including confined spaces and outdoor heat, is necessary, as well as availability for occasional emergency response outside typical hours.
