Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled API Architect to join a prominent bank based in Abu Dhabi. This role focuses on designing and implementing robust API solutions and strategies that drive the bank’s digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will take charge of designing and executing API solutions while serving as a subject matter expert (SME) on API governance and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) projects. Responsibilities include:

• Developing and implementing API strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Leading API lifecycle management and microservices architecture design.
• Utilizing API gateways and management platforms, preferably IBM stack, to optimize integration.
• Ensuring adherence to API design standards, best practices, and industry patterns.
• Implementing robust API security measures and standards.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams using DevOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) methodologies.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven expertise in API design, governance, and implementation within complex environments.
• Hands-on experience with API gateways and management tools, ideally IBM technologies.
• Strong understanding of API security frameworks and integration techniques.
• Familiarity with modeling languages such as UML and tools including Visio and RSA.
• Good communication skills alongside an ability to work well in team settings.
• Experience working in the financial sector is highly advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications

Practical knowledge of SOA frameworks and a background in financial institutions will set candidates apart, supporting the delivery of specialized, secure, and scalable API solutions.
