Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer specializing in testing, commissioning, and protection of Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical systems. The ideal candidate will have solid hands-on experience with protection relay testing, system troubleshooting, and site execution for power equipment including switchgear, transformers, and control panels.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical power system components such as MV/LV switchgear, power and distribution transformers, protection relays, CTs, VTs, and control and protection panels. You will conduct detailed testing and commissioning activities for various electrical systems, carry out fault diagnostics, and perform root cause analysis to resolve issues with switchgear, transformers, and protection relays.

Additional duties include preparing and reviewing method statements, non-conformance reports (NCRs), incident reports, root cause analysis (RCA) documentation, testing procedures, and technical reports. Supporting site planning and coordination under the guidance of the Engineering and Project Managers is also a key aspect of this position. You will provide on-site technical training and demonstrations for clients and operators on new electrical systems, ensuring effective knowledge transfer.

Coordination with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders during testing, commissioning, and energization phases is essential. Emphasizing safety compliance, you will strictly adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) guidelines as well as client and main contractor procedures. Participation in energization, shutdown, isolation, and safety clearance activities will be part of your responsibilities.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • At least 3 years of practical experience in testing and commissioning MV/LV electrical equipment.
  • Proven expertise in protection relay testing across various protection functions, including Overcurrent (OC), Earth Fault (EF), Differential, Distance, Under-Frequency, Over/Under Voltage, and other protection schemes.
  • Experience in utilities or government sector projects such as DEWA, ADDC, AADC, or industrial environments is highly preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to perform root cause analysis effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team coordination.
