Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Trade Finance Consultant with a strong background in banking operations for a six-month contract with a prominent banking client in the United Arab Emirates. This role focuses predominantly on the functional aspects of trade finance operations, requiring a deep understanding of banking products and processes across various sectors including retail, corporate, and investment banking.

Key Responsibilities

The consultant will serve as a subject matter expert in trade finance, providing comprehensive support on product knowledge, transaction monitoring, and operational workflows. Responsibilities include overseeing export and import transactions, document verification, negotiation processes, and payment handling. The role demands expertise in managing SWIFT message types such as 103/199, 202/299, and the 7 and 9 series, alongside ensuring compliance with AML, sanctions, and red flags detection.

Required Skills and Expertise

• Extensive experience (10 to 15+ years) in banking with solid knowledge of trade finance products and corporate actions.
• Advanced understanding of front, middle, and back-office banking operations and systems.
• Proficient in UCP, ISBP, ISP, URR, and URC trade finance rules.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex transaction data and conduct detailed document vetting.
• Excellent communication abilities to collaborate effectively with project sponsors, business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and end users.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should demonstrate robust problem-solving skills and a thorough grasp of banking regulations related to trade finance. Familiarity with bank payable and receivable processes as well as transaction analytics is essential. A keen eye for detail in document text vetting and trade finance record keeping is crucial to the successful execution of this role.
