Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Procurement and Sourcing Engineer to join our team in Riyadh. This role focuses on managing requests for quotations (RFQs) through various customer platforms, sourcing competitive bids from both local and international suppliers, and ensuring that cost, quality, and delivery standards are consistently met. The position combines technical evaluation skills with commercial negotiation expertise to guarantee timely and profitable order fulfillment.
Key Responsibilities
The Procurement and Sourcing Engineer will be responsible for:
- Reviewing and analyzing RFQs received via customer portals, interpreting technical specifications, drawings, bills of quantities (BOQs), and datasheets.
- Preparing and issuing detailed RFQs to authorized manufacturers, traders, and stockists.
- Ensuring timely submission of competitive and accurate quotations.
- Identifying and developing relationships with new suppliers both locally and internationally.
- Evaluating suppliers based on cost, quality, compliance, and delivery capabilities, while maintaining and updating an approved vendor list.
- Conducting technical and commercial comparisons through comprehensive bid tabulations.
- Performing cost analysis and price benchmarking to optimize procurement decisions.
- Negotiating pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contractual conditions to minimize total cost of ownership (TCO).
- Supporting margin analysis and helping develop effective pricing strategies.
- Preparing purchase orders ensuring technical and commercial accuracy.
- Coordinating with suppliers for order confirmations, documentation compliance, and shipment dispatch.
- Monitoring deliveries, resolving supply chain issues, and ensuring adherence to import/export regulations where applicable.
- Collaborating closely with sales, engineering, logistics, and finance teams to align procurement activities with project timelines and business goals.
- Providing technical clarifications to suppliers and internal teams as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2 to 8 years of practical experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management within a technical setting.
- Proven experience in handling RFQs and executing effective supplier negotiations.
- Familiarity with international sourcing procedures and vendor management systems.
- Strong ability to interpret and work with technical drawings and detailed specifications.
- Excellent technical and commercial evaluation skills combined with strong negotiation capabilities.
- Experience using ERP or procurement software systems, alongside proficiency in MS Excel and reporting tools.
- Detail-oriented with an ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in international trade, logistics, and compliance standards.
- Knowledge of Incoterms and contract negotiation best practices.
- Professional certifications such as CPSM or CIPS are an advantage.
