Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Procurement Engineer specialized in MEP systems including HVAC, plumbing, and firefighting for a large-scale hospitality development project valued at 8 billion SAR in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role focuses on managing the sourcing and purchase of key mechanical equipment, ensuring alignment with technical standards, budget constraints, and construction timelines. The position involves close collaboration with engineering, planning, and site teams to maintain seamless project progress.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing detailed procurement plans that sync with overall project schedules and identifying critical long-lead mechanical items such as chillers, air handling units (AHUs), pumps, and firefighting systems. Duties include preparing and issuing Request for Quotations (RFQs), evaluating technical and commercial bids to ensure supplier compliance with project specifications and industry standards like ASHRAE, NFPA, and SBC. Managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and maintaining a dependable supplier database are essential aspects of the role.

Additional tasks involve rigorous cost monitoring and identifying savings, issuing purchase orders, tracking material approvals, and liaising with QA/QC teams for material inspections. Proactively resolving procurement-related risks, managing delays, and expediting urgent orders form a critical part of daily responsibilities. Coordination with the mechanical design team, technical office, site engineers, and logistics ensures smooth procurement operations and project delivery.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7 to 12 years’ experience in MEP procurement, preferably in hospitality or large-scale projects. Expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and firefighting procurement is essential, along with a solid understanding of mechanical materials and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specification documents. Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle adds significant value. Knowledge of relevant industry standards including ASHRAE, NFPA, and Saudi Building Code is required.

Preferred Experience

Experience working on luxury hotel or hospitality projects, particularly within the GCC or Saudi Arabia, is advantageous. Familiarity with projects under the Public Investment Fund (PIF), such as Red Sea or Diriyah developments, will be considered a plus. Proven track record in procurement delivery, cost savings, supplier performance, and managing procurement-related challenges is highly desirable.
