Description

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled Rigger with specialized expertise in overhead transmission line (OHTL) projects. This role involves managing rigging operations for deep foundation piling, precise placement of anchor cages, assembly of structural steel lattice towers, and handling heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and preparing all rigging equipment including slings, shackles, spreader beams, wire ropes, and chain blocks before lifting operations. You will coordinate with crane operators using standard hand signals and radio communication to ensure accurate placement of piling rigs, steel reinforcement cages, and heavy machinery.

Additional duties include assisting in the safe installation of pile rebar cages and foundation anchor bolts used for securing tower bases, as well as rigging, hoisting, and positioning heavy lattice tower sections during erection. It is essential to secure load attachments correctly, calculate sling angles, and confirm that load weights are always within the safe working limits (SWL).

Daily inspections of rigging hardware for any signs of wear or damage and maintaining thorough lifting operation records will also be expected. Upholding strict on-site safety measures, including enforcing exclusion zones during critical lifts, is a crucial part of this role.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should have 3 to 5 years of verified experience working as a Rigger on overhead transmission line projects, particularly involving high-voltage lattice tower construction and foundation work. Certification as a Rigger (Level 1 or Level 2, or an equivalent regional qualification) is mandatory.

A comprehensive understanding of load charts, rigging gear specifications, signaling protocols, and heavy lifting safety standards is essential. The position also requires the physical ability to work comfortably at heights and withstand varying outdoor weather conditions. Strong knowledge of OSHA or local lifting safety regulations and stop-work authority procedures is required to maintain a safe work environment.
