Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled Back End Engineer to join our agile development team in Riyadh. In this role, you will play a vital part in advancing our bank’s vision to become the most customer-experience focused financial institution in the region. Your expertise will contribute to delivering world-class digital banking services that are reliable, user-friendly, and innovative.

Key Responsibilities

As a Back End Engineer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other specialists, to ensure high-quality software delivery. Your primary duties will include building robust digital banking applications, writing clean and efficient code, and engaging in design and code reviews. Additionally, you will partner with DevOps, QA, and project teams to maintain the smooth operation and deployment of services.

• Develop and maintain scalable digital banking services to meet evolving product needs
• Produce reusable, clean, and elegant code that tackles complex challenges
• Participate actively in design discussions and code quality reviews
• Collaborate with engineers, quality assurance, and project managers throughout the development lifecycle

Required Skills and Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience designing and building services on the JVM, primarily as a Java developer, with recent experience exploring Kotlin
• Strong familiarity with microservices architecture and containerized applications deployed on cloud orchestration platforms
• Proficient in using the Spring framework to develop backend systems
• Experience with test-driven development and writing comprehensive unit tests across various layers of the testing pyramid
• Practical knowledge of designing and implementing APIs using GraphQL as well as RESTful standards
• Understanding of cybersecurity best practices during software development
• Excellent communication skills with fluency in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage but not mandatory
• A mindset geared towards continuous learning and developing “T-shaped” skills by working closely with diverse team members

Preferred Experience

While banking industry experience is beneficial, it is not a strict requirement. We value high energy and motivation combined with solid application engineering expertise capable of driving initiatives forward at a senior level.
