Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled Senior Planning Engineer to join our team for an important building construction project in Riyadh. This role demands a professional with extensive experience in planning and scheduling throughout the entire project life cycle, from initial baseline setup to project close-out.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Master Project Schedule, covering all phases including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. This includes preparing detailed Level 3 and Level 4 schedules using Primavera P6 or equivalent software, setting the approved baseline, and managing all subsequent updates.

Regularly updating the schedule based on actual progress, performing critical path analyses, managing float, and identifying any potential delays early are essential duties. The role also involves preparing recovery plans and what-if scenarios, monitoring resource allocation, and tracking critical KPIs such as physical progress and earned value metrics.

Collaboration is key, as the Senior Planning Engineer will coordinate closely with construction, engineering, procurement, QA/QC, and site teams to ensure achievable and realistic programmes. Participation in weekly progress reviews, planning workshops, and close coordination with subcontractors to integrate their schedules into the master plan is required.

Reporting duties include producing weekly and monthly progress updates, S-curves, histograms, and dashboards. The candidate will also provide delay analyses and support Extension of Time (EOT) claims along with maintaining detailed schedule narratives and change logs. Finally, the role supports project close-out activities including updating as-built schedules and capturing lessons learned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in project planning and scheduling for building or infrastructure projects.
• In-depth knowledge of the complete project life cycle from tender through to handover.
• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 is mandatory; experience with MS Project is a plus.
• Strong understanding of CPM, earned value management, and delay analysis methods.
• Proven ability to create realistic, logic-driven schedules that mirror site conditions.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting capabilities.
• Experience working with international consultants and familiarity with FIDIC or similar contracts is preferred.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Experience

• Background in large-scale building projects such as commercial, institutional, residential, or airport facilities.
• Experience with resource and cost loading in Primavera P6.
• Knowledge of local construction methods and typical sequencing for multi-disciplinary building works.

Work Environment

This position will be based on-site and in the office, requiring strong technical expertise in planning and an eye for detail to influence the program’s performance throughout the project’s duration.
