Job Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Planning Engineer with a strong background in fire protection and firefighting projects to join our team in Riyadh. This role involves comprehensive project planning, scheduling, and monitoring to ensure timely and efficient delivery of fire protection systems. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, subcontractors, and clients, ensuring projects progress smoothly and meet budget and timeline targets.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Planning Engineer will be accountable for developing and maintaining detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project. Responsibilities include preparing baseline schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and resource-loaded schedules with cash flow forecasting. Regular progress monitoring against baseline plans is essential, along with critical path analysis to identify and mitigate delays.

Reporting duties involve creating weekly and monthly updates, dashboards, S-curves, earned value analyses, and key performance indicator (KPI) reports. The role requires coordination with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning to align schedules effectively.

Additional tasks include reviewing project documentation such as specifications, drawings, and contract requirements to establish accurate timelines. Tracking procurement activities for equipment like fire pumps, sprinkler and alarm systems, suppression systems, and hydrant networks is vital for schedule integrity. The Senior Planning Engineer will also perform delay analyses, prepare extension of time (EOT) claims, manage manpower productivity, and support forecasting of project completion while ensuring adherence to contractual, quality, and health and safety standards.

Required Skills and Experience

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional certification in Primavera P6 is highly preferred.

Ideal candidates will have between 8 to 12 years of planning and scheduling experience, with at least 5 years specifically in fire protection and related firefighting system projects. Experience in commercial, industrial, infrastructure, data center, oil and gas, or high-rise building fire protection projects is crucial.

Candidate must demonstrate strong knowledge of project controls, construction sequencing, and planning methodologies. Experience in EPC and MEP project environments will be considered an advantage.

Technical Competencies

Proficiency with Primavera P6 is required, along with solid skills in Microsoft Project, Excel, Power BI, and other project reporting tools. Familiarity with NFPA standards and fire protection system construction practices is important. The engineer must also understand procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning processes related to fire protection systems and be experienced in delay analysis and earned value management (EVM).
