Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanical Engineer specializing in piping and steel structures to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role focuses on managing maintenance, inspection, and repair activities for piping systems and structural steelworks within oil and gas facilities. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining asset integrity, ensuring safety, and adhering to Saudi Aramco engineering and HSE standards.
Key Responsibilities
The engineer will be responsible for supervising and executing tasks related to piping maintenance, steel structure upkeep, and corrosion control. Key duties include:
- Overseeing inspections and maintenance of process piping, utility pipelines including water, air, nitrogen, and firewater systems, both above and underground.
- Monitoring conditions such as corrosion, erosion, and mechanical damage, while ensuring pipe supports, anchors, guides, and spring hangers are in good condition.
- Inspecting steel structures like pipe racks, equipment platforms, access ladders, stairways, and supports for vessels and piping.
- Identifying structural issues such as corrosion, deformation, loose bolts, and coating failures, and supervising necessary repairs, bolting replacements, and structural reinforcements.
- Coordinating sandblasting and coating activities in compliance with Saudi Aramco standards, reviewing inspection reports including Dry Film Thickness (DFT) measurements.
- Supporting risk-based inspection (RBI) programs and participating in root cause failure analyses (RCFA) to improve reliability.
- Ensuring all work follows Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards (SAES), Materials System Specifications (SAMSS), the Work Permit System, and HSE regulations.
- Planning and coordinating with various maintenance disciplines and contractors by reviewing method statements and inspection test plans (ITPs), preparing work orders, and managing material and spare parts requisitions.
- Providing support during plant shutdowns and turnaround activities for seamless maintenance execution.
Required Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of three years’ experience in maintenance within the oil and gas sector, preferably involving Saudi Aramco projects. Essential skills include:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills and teamwork orientation.
- Knowledge of piping stress analysis and familiarity with structural steel repair and bolting standards.
- Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT).
- Understanding of corrosion mechanisms and control methods in oil and gas environments.
