Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer or Electrician with extensive experience in maintaining and repairing electrical systems on drilling rigs. This role involves working in challenging environments such as remote desert locations in Saudi Arabia, providing critical support to drilling operations by ensuring the reliability and safety of electrical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, inspecting, and repairing electrical systems including generators, motor control center (MCC) panels, variable frequency drives (VFD), silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) systems, motors, lighting, and control systems aboard drilling rigs.
They will quickly diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.
In addition, the engineer will implement preventive maintenance strategies adhering to company policies and Saudi Aramco health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, including strict compliance with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Maintaining detailed maintenance records and technical documents, supervising electrical technicians, and providing training to junior electricians are also key aspects of this role.
Supporting rig mobilization and demobilization activities, as well as overseeing the installation and commissioning of electrical systems, will be part of the daily duties.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- At least 5 years of hands-on electrical experience specifically on drilling rigs, with minimum 2 years’ experience within Saudi Arabia preferred.
- Strong understanding of rig power distribution, generators, VFD and SCR drives, as well as PLC-based control systems.
- Proficient communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage.
- Possession of a valid Saudi Iqama or transferable sponsorship is preferred.
- Willingness and ability to work rotational shifts in remote desert settings.
