Job Overview

We are urgently seeking experienced Field Joint Coating Technicians to join a vital offshore pipeline project in Qatar. The contract is for 2 months, starting from September 5, 2026, with five positions available. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professionals skilled in pipeline coating technologies to contribute to a high-profile project in the region.

Key Responsibilities

The technician will be responsible for preparing pipe joint surfaces through blast cleaning and grinding to specified standards such as Sa 2.5. Application expertise in various Field Joint Coating (FJC) systems is essential, including heat shrink sleeves, liquid epoxy coatings, fusion bonded epoxy (FBE), and multi-layer coatings like 3LPE and 3LPP.

The role also involves operating induction heating equipment for both pre-heating and post-heating processes. Carrying out holiday testing (spark testing) and measuring dry film thickness (DFT) are critical to ensuring coating integrity and quality. Daily documentation, including coating logs, material traceability, and inspection test plan (ITP) sign-offs should be maintained meticulously. Additionally, the technician will supervise FJC helpers to ensure smooth operations on site.

Required Skills and Experience

Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience specifically in pipeline field joint coating. Proven knowledge in handling multi-layer sealing systems such as 3LPE/3LPP and heat shrink sleeve applications is highly desirable. Practical experience operating induction heating equipment and carrying out quality control tests like holiday detection and DFT measurements is expected.
