Job Overview

An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled DCS Board Operator to join a leading engineering team in Qatar’s oil and gas sector. This role focuses on overseeing distributed control systems during critical phases such as pre-commissioning, commissioning, and plant startup. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring system reliability and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

The DCS Board Operator will be responsible for managing and monitoring control systems to ensure smooth commissioning and start-up activities. This includes conducting loop checks, functional testing, and system acceptance tests (SAT). Close collaboration with field technicians, ICSS vendors, and multidisciplinary teams like Mechanical, Electrical, and Piping is essential to resolve system issues and complete field commissioning tasks effectively.

Additional duties include verifying and updating engineering documents such as Instrument Loop Diagrams (ILDs), Alarm Objective Analysis (AOA), datasheets, control logic configurations, and commissioning records. Monitoring alarms, validating control loops, and overseeing software and hardware modifications are critical aspects of this role. Identifying and troubleshooting operational problems while ensuring safety compliance and maintaining detailed progress and commissioning reports is also required.

Required Skills and Experience

• A Degree or Diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or Control Engineering is essential.
• At least 6 years of practical experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with a focus on DCS operations or commissioning roles.
• Deep understanding of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interface (HMI) technologies, and ICSS systems is crucial.
• Experience in commissioning activities including loop checks, functional and alarm testing, as well as plant startup support.
• Strong awareness of safety standards, permit-to-work procedures, and operational risk management.
