Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Chemical Engineer to join our team in Kuwait, specializing in designing and optimizing chemical processes within the oil & gas and industrial process plant sectors. This role is vital for enhancing operational efficiency, maintaining product quality, and ensuring safety compliance across large-scale industrial operations.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Designing, evaluating, and optimizing chemical processes tailored for oil & gas and industrial process plants.
- Creating detailed chemical process designs, including mass and energy balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Selecting appropriate equipment such as heat exchangers, pumps, reactors, separators, compressors, and distillation units.
- Conducting hazard identification and safety studies like HAZOP and HAZID, alongside comprehensive risk assessments.
- Ensuring adherence to safety regulations and industry standards to uphold a safe working environment.
- Developing and maintaining quality control procedures and comprehensive documentation.
- Analyzing plant performance data to uncover opportunities for improving reliability and minimizing downtime.
- Troubleshooting issues related to process equipment and plant systems efficiently.
- Supporting projects from initial engineering design through commissioning and start-up phases.
- Preparing thorough engineering reports, technical calculations, and documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Strong expertise in chemical process design, equipment selection, and system optimization.
- In-depth knowledge of safety standards including OSHA, API, NFPA, and ISO.
- Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or large-scale industrial processing operations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and process diagrams.
- Valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle, enabling site visits.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with process simulation tools such as Aspen HYSYS, Petro-SIM, or ChemCAD.
- Familiarity with FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project workflows.
- Proven track record in contributing to major industrial projects, plant expansions, or upgrades.
- Knowledge of reliability engineering principles and continuous improvement strategies.
Work Environment
The position involves a blend of office-based engineering tasks and on-site activities at industrial plants. Strict compliance with safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are mandatory. Occasional travel to project sites, client locations, or vendor facilities will be required, utilizing a personal vehicle.
