Job Overview

Wood is seeking a Senior Piping Designer to contribute to engineering and project management services for a major ongoing program in Saudi Arabia. This role involves working closely under the guidance of the Piping Lead Engineer to deliver comprehensive design and drafting solutions for various industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Piping Designer will be responsible for creating and reviewing detailed piping designs. Tasks include developing Plot Plans, Equipment Layouts, and 2D Piping General Arrangement Drawings for FEED studies. The role also covers producing detailed isometrics, pipe support drawings, and compiling material take-offs.

The designer will prepare isometric sketches for stress-critical lines, integrating stress analysis feedback to optimize support locations. Maintaining accuracy, the candidate will check drawings from other piping designers and ensure all designs adhere to required standards and project objectives.

Developing and updating 3D models based on study layouts, client reviews, and supplier inputs is a key part of the position. This includes keeping clash-free models and remodeling as necessary. The role demands a strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards throughout all activities and requires active involvement in training, inductions, and documentation reviews to support continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in refinery, petrochemical, chemical, or power plant projects.
• Expertise in Equipment Layout Development and piping design for equipment such as vessels, exchangers, tanks, pumps, and compressors.
• Knowledge of onshore gas gathering systems, including wellheads, flowlines, manifolds, and gas compression facilities, is considered an advantage.
• Competence working on both FEED and detailed design projects.
• Proficiency with Microstation and 3D design software including PDS, PDMS, and SP3D.
• Excellent organizational skills, proactive attitude, and ability to work well within a team.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
• A dedication to safety and environmental standards, ensuring compliance with HSE policies.
• Capability to perform site surveys and provide technical advice during design activities.
