Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Piping Engineer specializing in mechanical piping for oil and gas projects, particularly with expertise in Saudi Aramco standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading piping engineering activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and delivering quality design solutions within project timelines in Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Piping Engineer will oversee the entire piping engineering process for Saudi Aramco projects, including both greenfield and brownfield developments. Responsibilities include:

• Leading and managing the piping engineering team to ensure efficient project execution.
• Ensuring designs comply with Saudi Aramco standards such as SAES, SAMSS, SAEP, and GI.
• Preparing and reviewing detailed piping deliverables such as Material Specifications (PMS), Valve Data Sheets, Line Lists, Isometrics, General Arrangement drawings, Tie-in Packages, and Material Take-Offs (MTOs).
• Overseeing piping layout design, focusing on equipment nozzle orientation, pipe routing, and optimal space management.
• Coordinating closely with multidisciplinary teams, including process, mechanical, civil/structural, and instrumentation engineers to guarantee fully integrated designs.
• Participating in 3D model reviews using tools like PDS, PDMS, or SP3D and contributing to HAZOP discussions.
• Reviewing piping stress analysis reports (e.g., Caesar II) for critical pipelines, checking flexibility, support design, and load conditions.
• Providing technical assistance to procurement and construction teams by reviewing vendor documents and addressing site technical queries.
• Leading internal and client design reviews to ensure comments are resolved promptly.
• Mentoring junior engineers and designers to foster team development.
• Ensuring all deliverables meet quality and schedule requirements while staying within budget.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of 12 years’ experience in piping design and engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience working on Saudi Aramco projects is essential.
• In-depth knowledge of international standards such as ASME, API, and ASTM.
• Strong leadership abilities combined with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Aramco project execution processes, including detailed engineering and IFC package preparation.
• Experience in pipeline and flowline projects is an advantage.
