Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Calibration Technical Lead to manage and execute laboratory calibration activities within an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited calibration and testing laboratory environment. This role requires hands-on expertise in metrology and demands strong technical judgment along with meticulous documentation management.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and supervising calibrations across multiple instrument types including pressure, temperature, electrical, dimensional, and analytical devices. This involves handling complex, non-routine calibrations independently, reviewing technical data, and ensuring the accuracy of measurement uncertainty assessments. The role also includes approving calibration certificates, maintaining traceability to national and international standards, and ensuring full compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
Additional tasks include preparing and updating standard operating procedures, work instructions, and other technical documentation. The lead will support internal and external audits, proficiency testing, and manage corrective action plans. Providing guidance and mentoring to technicians and junior engineers is an essential aspect of this role, helping to build a high-performing calibration team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechatronics Engineering and possess over five years of hands-on experience in a calibration laboratory setting. A strong understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 technical standards and proven skills in calibration and measurement uncertainty evaluation are essential. The ability to independently review and authorize technical results is required.
Preferred Experience
Experience working within ISO-accredited laboratories such as SAAC, IAS, NABL, or UKAS is highly desirable. Candidates with background knowledge in industrial calibration services related to sectors like Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power, and Utilities will have an advantage. Familiarity with laboratory management systems and certificate control software is a plus.
