Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Coating and Painting Quality Control Inspector to supervise surface preparation and coating applications on storage tanks and pressure vessels. The successful candidate will ensure all work aligns with project specifications, international quality standards, and client requirements, with a focus on zinc silicate coatings and abrasive blasting processes.

Key Responsibilities

This role involves close monitoring and inspection of surface preparation methods such as sand and abrasive blasting to achieve the required cleanliness standards, including Sa 2.5 / SSPC-SP10. You will verify surface profiles using replica tape or profile gauges and oversee the proper application of zinc silicate coatings, managing critical factors like mixing ratios, thinning, pot life, and environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity.

Additional duties include performing various coating inspections: Dry Film Thickness (DFT) measurements, Wet Film Thickness (WFT) checks, adhesion tests, and holiday (pinhole) testing to ensure coating integrity and compliance with industry standards like ISO 8501, ISO 8502, ISO 8503, SSPC, and NACE.

You will also review and approve method statements, inspection test plans (ITPs), and coating procedures, maintain detailed QA/QC documentation and inspection records, and coordinate with client and third-party inspectors.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Solid experience in coating and painting quality control within industrial projects, especially involving zinc silicate systems.
• Proficient in evaluating surface preparation quality according to international standards.
• Ability to conduct thorough coating inspections and use inspection tools effectively.
• Strong understanding of environmental impacts on coating application and drying processes.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards such as ISO, SSPC, and NACE.
• Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills for working with clients and inspectors.
