Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Standard Penetration Test (SPT) Operator to join our team in Jubail. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing SPTs to assess soil conditions, supporting geotechnical investigations critical to construction and infrastructure projects. This role requires proficiency in operating drilling equipment, accurate data collection, and adherence to safety and quality standards on site.

Key Responsibilities

The SPT Operator will:

• Conduct Standard Penetration Tests according to ASTM standards and project requirements.
• Operate drilling rigs and related geotechnical tools with precision and care.
• Measure and document blow counts (N-values) meticulously during testing procedures.
• Collect and properly label soil samples for further analysis.
• Assist geotechnical engineers during borehole drilling and various site investigations.
• Maintain detailed daily logs, test reports, and field records to ensure accurate project tracking.
• Ensure calibration and routine maintenance of SPT equipment to guarantee reliable results.
• Follow project-specific method statements and quality control guidelines strictly.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, fostering a safe working environment.
• Collaborate closely with site supervisors and engineers to verify testing locations and depths are accurately executed.
• Identify any unusual soil conditions and report findings promptly to supervising engineers for further evaluation.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Technical diploma or certification in drilling operations or geotechnical activities.
• 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience performing geotechnical field testing.
• Strong understanding of ASTM D1586 Standard Penetration Test protocols.
• Competence in operating drilling rigs and soil sampling equipment efficiently.
• Ability to perform work in outdoor field settings, including remote and challenging project sites.
