We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Cost Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Jeddah. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing project costs, ensuring budget adherence, and providing accurate financial forecasts. This position requires strong expertise in cost control systems, project budgeting, and financial reporting within the construction or infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Cost Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining cost control procedures and tools. Key duties include preparing and managing detailed project budgets, cost baselines, and cash flow forecasts. You will monitor expenditures and commitments, identify cost variances, and conduct thorough cost analysis and cost-to-complete forecasting. Additionally, the role involves overseeing subcontractor payments and validating invoices and variation orders.

Assessing change orders, contractual variations, and claims to provide clear cost impact evaluations is also essential. The candidate will prepare regular cost reports encompassing forecasts, commitments, and financial performance summaries. Collaborating with project managers, planners, procurement, and commercial teams to align cost data will be a vital component of this role.

Supporting tendering activities through cost estimation, benchmarking, and bill of quantity analysis will be expected. The role requires identifying opportunities for cost savings and recommending value engineering initiatives. Maintaining accurate cost records and ensuring compliance with contractual and company policies complete the scope of duties.

Required Skills and Experience

The successful applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in cost engineering within construction projects is essential to excel in this role.

Strong analytical skills, proficiency in cost control software, and a thorough understanding of earned value management (EVM) principles are highly desirable. Effective communication and teamwork abilities are crucial to coordinate across multiple departments and ensure accurate financial tracking.
