Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Freelance Commissioning Engineer to support the commissioning and start-up of a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) unit within an oil and gas facility. This project-based position offers a unique opportunity to work hands-on at a site level, engaging directly with clients in a dynamic oil and gas environment.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will manage all aspects of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for the DAF unit, including:
- Conducting pre-commissioning inspections, punch-list follow-ups, and loop checks
- Leading the start-up of the DAF system components such as the saturator, recycle pumps, skimmer, and air injection systems
- Optimizing process parameters including recycle ratio, pressure levels, and chemical dosing
- Performing performance testing and site acceptance testing (SAT) to ensure operational standards are met
- Providing comprehensive operator training and delivering complete commissioning documentation to the client
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in process or plant commissioning roles
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in upstream, midstream, or downstream oil and gas sectors
- Practical knowledge of DAF units, IGF systems, or produced-water treatment processes
- Familiarity with ATEX regulations and working in hazardous area environments
- Valid safety certifications such as H2S Alive and BOSIET or the equivalent
- Strong documentation, reporting skills, and thorough attention to detail
Engagement Details
This freelance role will last approximately 2 to 3 weeks, with a proposed start date around July or August 2026. The location will be confirmed later. Compensation is offered either on a day-rate basis or as a lump-sum payment depending on agreement.
