Job Overview
An urgent opportunity in Bahrain is open for a Senior HVAC Project Engineer with extensive experience in managing HVAC projects from inception to completion. This role requires a seasoned professional to lead engineering efforts, ensure smooth project execution, and maintain high standards throughout all phases of the HVAC installation, testing, and commissioning processes.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior HVAC Project Engineer will be responsible for thoroughly reviewing tender documents, IFC drawings, and Bills of Quantities at the start of projects. Developing and monitoring project schedules to meet deadlines is essential, along with efficient allocation of engineering resources to optimize project outcomes. Preparing detailed HVAC shop drawings, material submittals, and securing consultant approvals are critical components of the role.
The engineer will also conduct technical selection of HVAC equipment such as chillers, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), pumps, and fans, while preparing comprehensive technical and commercial comparisons of supplier quotations. Proficiency in performing HVAC calculations—including heat load, external static pressure, pump head, and staircase pressurization—is a must.
Monitoring installation, testing, and commissioning to comply with industry standards, preparing method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to quality plans and manpower budgets are pivotal duties. The role demands close coordination with mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams, managing RFIs, inspection requests, project variations, progress payments, and documentation for consultant approvals.
Completion of as-built drawings, operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals, and handover documentation is required. The engineer will utilize HVAC design software, including HAP, Duct/Pipe Sizer, and Psychrometric Chart Analyzer, alongside MS Office tools for reporting and documentation. Maintaining compliance with local regulations and industry best practices and liaising effectively with contractors, clients, consultants, and project managers are essential to success.
