Job Overview

We are urgently seeking a qualified Assistant Manager to join our team in Bahrain, focusing on tendering for civil maintenance projects. This role involves extensive involvement in quantity take-offs, cost estimation, and tender preparation within the civil construction and maintenance sector. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in civil engineering or quantity surveying, combined with practical experience in managing contracts and project costing.

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive quantity take-offs, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and detailed cost estimates for various civil maintenance projects. Your duties will include reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to ensure accuracy and completeness. You will also conduct rate analysis, oversee budgeting and cost control measures, and evaluate subcontractor quotations through detailed comparison statements.

Additionally, you will handle interim payment certificates, finalize accounts, and monitor project variations alongside contract administration. Site visits to verify quantities and assess progress will be an essential part of your role. Support in tender preparation and submission processes is also expected to help secure new projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or a Diploma in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying. A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in civil works, maintenance contracts, and renovation projects is essential. Expertise in preparing BOQs and conducting rate analysis is required, and familiarity with plumbing and building services quantities is preferred to better manage multidisciplinary projects.

Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and quantity surveying software is necessary to perform daily tasks efficiently. Strong communication and negotiation abilities, coupled with strong analytical skills, will enable you to succeed in this role. Experience working on GCC projects is advantageous, and practical site experience is considered an added benefit.
