Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Estimator and Designer specializing in food service equipment for commercial kitchen projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cost estimation, layout design, and ensuring technical compliance across various kitchen installations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with project teams, suppliers, and clients to deliver effective kitchen solutions that meet industry standards and client needs.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will handle the preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, and project quotations tailored to commercial kitchen environments. You will design efficient kitchen layouts using AutoCAD and other design software, review tender documents, specifications, and drawings to ensure accuracy and feasibility. Coordination with suppliers is essential for pricing, equipment selection, and verifying technical compliance. Additionally, you will create detailed equipment schedules, shop drawings, and technical submittals. Conducting site visits and collaborating with project, sales, and installation teams will be part of your routine to monitor progress and address any design modifications or clarifications needed. Ensuring all designs adhere to local regulations, safety standards, and client requirements is a critical function of this position.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related discipline. A minimum of 4 to 6 years of professional experience working on commercial kitchen or food service equipment projects is preferred. Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen layouts and equipment is necessary, along with proven proficiency in AutoCAD. Experience in preparing BOQs, cost estimation, tendering processes, and project costing is essential. Familiarity with well-known brands such as Rational, Hobart, Electrolux, Hoshizaki, and Convotherm will be advantageous. GCC work experience is considered a plus. Excellent communication and coordination skills are also expected to effectively manage multi-stakeholder projects.
