Job Overview

Gi Aqua Tech is seeking a skilled Filtration Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role focuses on the operation, optimization, and maintenance of ultrafiltration (UF) and reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment systems, ensuring high-quality treated water and efficient plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

The Filtration Engineer will be responsible for preparing and maintaining operational documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, and system logs. This includes detailed procedures for start-up, shutdown, emergency response, and chemical cleaning (CIP) protocols.

In addition, the engineer will operate and monitor UF and RO units to meet water quality and recovery targets, troubleshoot issues related to fouling, scaling, and membrane performance, and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for operational failures. Collaborating closely with commissioning, process, operations, and maintenance teams is essential to validate procedures and ensure compliance with project requirements.

Maintaining accurate records of production data, system downtime, chemical use, and membrane conditions forms a key part of the role. The engineer will also assess and implement ways to optimize operational costs and chemical consumption while participating in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) risk assessments and audits.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Between 3 to 7 years of hands-on experience working with UF and RO membrane filtration systems in industrial, municipal, or water reuse applications.
• Practical knowledge of membrane technologies, chemical dosing, and CIP skids.
• A strong understanding of water chemistry, fouling mechanisms, and pretreatment processes to ensure lasting membrane performance.
• Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and SCADA system data trends.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with proven troubleshooting skills related to water treatment operations.
• Effective communication skills, able to work well independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with HSE regulations and industrial safety standards relevant to water treatment plants.
