Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Electrical Substation Design Engineer to join our team in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree. This role requires a professional engineer registered in their home country and certified by the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).

The position involves working on the design and consultancy of electrical substations, particularly within the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) standards, bringing at least 15 years of relevant experience in the GCC region, preferably Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review substation designs according to SEC design and construction standards.
• Perform design calculations based on international and IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and IEC standards.
• Execute complex engineering analyses, including short circuit studies, load flow analysis, motor starting assessments, and harmonic evaluations.
• Size and specify substation equipment, medium voltage (MV), and high voltage (HV) cable systems including cable sheath bonding.
• Coordinate voltage insulation and determine proper surge arrester specifications.
• Create detailed substation layouts, MV cable layouts, control and protection room layouts.
• Prepare and review detailed equipment specifications aligned with industry standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• BSc in Electrical Engineering (Power), with preference for MSc in Electrical Power Engineering.
• Professional engineering registration both in home country and with Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in substation design consultancy within the GCC, preferably Saudi Arabia.
• Expert knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEC, IEC standards, and SEC design/construction guidelines.
• Proficient with substation design and electrical engineering software such as ETAP and CYME.
• Strong analytical skills for performing power system studies including short circuit, load flow, motor starting, and harmonic analysis.
