Job Overview

Western International Group is seeking a motivated and commercially focused Assistant Buyer to join their team in Oman. This role supports the expansion and management of the Footwear and Handbags category, contributing to sales growth and effective inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Buyer will assist in product selection by analyzing current trends, sales data, and customer preferences. Responsibilities include liaising with suppliers to negotiate pricing, place orders, and track deliveries to ensure timely stock availability. The role involves monitoring sales performance, stock levels, sell-through rates, and replenishment needs. Conducting market research and competitor analysis to spot new opportunities is also essential.

Additionally, the Assistant Buyer will support weekly promotional activities, perform sales reviews, and implement corrective actions as needed. Coordination with stores, warehouse, logistics, and visual merchandising teams is required to ensure smooth stock flow and visual execution. Preparation of detailed sales, stock, buying, and supplier reports also falls within the scope of this position. Working closely with the Buyer, the role supports achieving sales targets, margin goals, and effective inventory control, including regional stock planning and visual merchandising execution following central buying strategies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree or relevant educational background is required. Candidates with experience in retail buying, merchandising, or the fashion retail sector will be preferred. A strong understanding of footwear and ladies’ handbags products is important. Successful applicants should possess solid communication and negotiation abilities along with strong analytical skills. Familiarity with SAP and Power BI systems is a plus.
