Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Accounts Executive to join a small refinery team in the UAE. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience specifically within the oil and gas or refinery sector, managing accounting tasks such as ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, Local Purchase Order (LPO) processing, invoicing, and general day-to-day financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
The Accounts Executive will oversee daily accounting and finance duties connected to refinery operations. This includes maintaining accurate customer and supplier ledgers, performing regular reconciliations, and resolving any discrepancies found during reviews.
- Processing and maintaining Local Purchase Orders and ensuring all related documentation is in order
- Managing purchase and sales invoices, credit notes, and payment documents efficiently
- Tracking accounts payable and receivable, and following up on outstanding customer balances and supplier payments
- Assisting with bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
- Verifying invoices against LPOs, delivery notes, and other supporting paperwork
- Coordinating with procurement, operations, logistics, and administrative teams to ensure smooth financial workflows
- Preparing periodic reports on receivables, payables, outstanding balances, and reconciliations
- Supporting monthly closing procedures and providing necessary data for management review
- Ensuring all accounting records are accurate, organized, and confidential
- Assisting with audits by providing required documents and responding to audit queries
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven background as an Accounts Executive or Accountant in oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, trading, or industrial companies
- Strong grasp of account reconciliation processes and ledger maintenance
- Experience handling Local Purchase Orders, purchase and sales invoices, and supplier/customer accounts
- Comprehensive understanding of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) accounting procedures
- Familiarity with general accounting principles and maintaining detailed documentation
- Proficient with accounting software or ERP systems is a plus
- Advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Highly organized, accurate, and detail-focused
- Good communication skills paired with effective coordination capabilities
- Relevant accounting or finance qualification preferred
Work Location
This position is based in the United Arab Emirates and involves working closely with teams across procurement, operations, and administration within the refinery.
