A reputable construction firm in Bahrain is looking to hire a proficient Quantity Survey Engineer with local availability. The ideal candidate will bring experience in preparing detailed cost estimates, managing bills of quantities, and assisting in procurement and contract administration for large-scale civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

The Quantity Survey Engineer will play a key role in project cost management by handling the following tasks:

  • Preparing precise cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and comprehensive cost plans derived from architectural and structural drawings.
  • Conducting quantity take-offs and measurements primarily for civil works, with foundational knowledge of MEP quantities.
  • Evaluating material prices, labor costs, and subcontractor quotes to ensure accurate project budgeting.
  • Supporting procurement processes, including vendor negotiations and commercial evaluations.
  • Assisting in the administration of main contracts and subcontracts while applying a strong understanding of GCC contract conditions.
  • Performing site measurements, preparing valuations for completed work, and managing interim payment applications.
  • Assessing and pricing variations, change orders, and site instructions efficiently.
  • Monitoring project expenditure, maintaining cost control, and preparing cash flow forecasts and monthly commercial reports.
  • Producing final accounts and claim assessments in preparation for management review.
  • Reading and interpreting architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications for accurate quantity derivation.
  • Utilizing quantity take-off software and MS Excel for detailed cost analysis and progress tracking on projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • Between 3 to 7 years of professional experience in Quantity Surveying or a similar position.
  • Strong understanding of civil construction along with basic knowledge of MEP quantities.
  • Familiarity with GCC construction contracts and commercial standards.
  • Proficient in English and Hindi, both spoken and written, to facilitate effective communication.
  • Advanced expertise in MS Excel and experience with quantity surveying software tools.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, negotiation capabilities, and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating seamlessly with project teams, procurement departments, and site personnel.
