Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Network Support Engineer to join our team in Karachi. The ideal candidate should have 3 to 4 years of experience in network administration, security, and communications, preferably from a reputable organization. This role demands a deep understanding of both Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies and protocols along with hands-on experience managing complex network infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities

The Network Support Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of network systems, ensuring high availability and performance. Duties include managing WAN, MPLS, routers, switches, firewalls, and distributed switch networks. You will handle configurations related to VLANs, VPNs, QoS, IPSec, OSPF, BGP, ACLs, and wireless protocols (802.11x), along with redundancy protocols such as HSRP, VRRP, and GLBP.

Additional responsibilities cover network monitoring using SNMP v2/v3, managing IPv4/IPv6 DHCP, Network Time Protocol (NTP) settings including authentication, and administering IP address translation methods like static NAT, dynamic NAT, and PAT. Implementing voice over IP (VoIP) and video conferencing solutions also forms part of this role.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols including CDP, LLDP, UDLD, STP variations, EtherChannels, LACP, PAgP, and VTP versions 1 to 3.
• Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting OSPF, BGP, and VPN technologies.
• Experience with network security devices and products, especially Palo Alto and Fortinet firewall solutions.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and methodologies such as SNMP, IP SLA, and NTP.
• Solid understanding of network standards and best practices.
• Effective communication and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines while working independently or collaboratively.
