Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Process Commissioning Engineer with extensive experience in Oil & Gas EPC projects, specifically with a background in Saudi Aramco-related assignments. This contractual role based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focuses on leading process commissioning activities to ensure safe and efficient facility start-up and handover.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning and pre-commissioning activities across Oil & Gas facilities. They will meticulously review engineering documents such as P&IDs, process datasheets, and commissioning protocols. The role involves developing commissioning plans, checklists, and system dossiers, while collaborating closely with Engineering, Construction, QA/QC, HSE, Operations teams, and other commissioning disciplines.

Responsibilities include verifying mechanical completion, supporting flushing and pressure testing, conducting process system inspections, and troubleshooting during start-up. The engineer will oversee functional and performance testing, coordinate with vendors and contractors, and ensure compliance with HSE and Saudi Aramco standards throughout the commissioning process. Accurate documentation, progress reporting, and punch list management are also vital components of the role.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas commissioning
  • Proven expertise in process commissioning, pre-commissioning, and plant start-up
  • Mandatory Saudi Aramco project experience with familiarity of their standards and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of EPC/EPCIC project execution
  • Experience with gas processing plants, refineries, petrochemical facilities, pipelines, or utilities is highly advantageous
  • Excellent understanding of P&IDs, system walkdowns, and commissioning methodologies
  • Good grasp of HSE, permit-to-work, SIMOPS, and commissioning safety requirements
  • Effective communication and coordination skills with client and Aramco teams

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with experience working on Saudi Aramco EPC/EPCM projects, and those already Aramco-approved or possessing relevant Aramco CBT qualifications, will be highly favored. Prior involvement in greenfield and brownfield commissioning projects will be an added benefit.

Work Environment

This role requires adaptability to a multicultural EPC project environment, working under tight schedules, and handling the pressures of plant start-up activities. The engineer will engage directly with client representatives and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the smooth execution of commissioning tasks.
