Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team in Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working on electrical systems for drilling rigs, playing a crucial role in maintaining and repairing complex equipment to ensure smooth and safe operations.
Key Responsibilities
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for operating, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a variety of electrical systems and equipment found on drilling rigs. This includes generators, Motor Control Centers (MCC), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Silicon Controlled Rectifiers (SCRs), motors, lighting, and control systems. A critical part of the role involves diagnosing electrical faults promptly and efficiently to minimize rig downtime.
The role also involves implementing preventive maintenance strategies and ensuring that all electrical work adheres strictly to company standards and Saudi Aramco’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies. Ensuring compliance with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety regulations is paramount.
Maintaining detailed electrical service records, reports, and technical documentation is essential, along with supervising and mentoring electrical technicians and junior electricians. The engineer will also support rig mobilization and demobilization activities, including the installation and commissioning of electrical systems during Rig Up and Rig Down operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on electrical experience on drilling rigs, with a minimum of 2 years preferably within Saudi Arabia.
- Strong expertise in rig power systems such as generators, VFD/SCR drives, and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) control systems.
- Good command of English for clear communication; knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.
- Valid Saudi Iqama or eligibility for transferable sponsorship is preferred.
- Willingness and ability to work in rotation shifts within remote desert environments.
