Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Engineer to join our team for urgent industrial projects in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing and managing HVAC systems in process plants, control rooms, and hazardous environments. This role requires hands-on expertise with equipment specification, installation supervision, system troubleshooting, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

The HVAC Engineer will be responsible for the full cycle of HVAC engineering and execution, including:

• Designing industrial HVAC systems tailored for process facilities, control areas, and ATEX/IECEx hazardous zones.
• Preparing detailed technical specifications, datasheets, and requests for quotations (RFQs) for HVAC equipment such as chillers, air handling units (AHUs), and exhaust systems.
• Reviewing piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), ductwork layouts, and HVAC control schematics, including integration with Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Supervising installation, testing, and commissioning phases to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
• Collaborating effectively with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams to guarantee system integration.
• Developing preventive maintenance programs for critical HVAC systems and resolving operational issues like airflow imbalances, refrigerant leaks, and control system failures.
• Conducting energy audits and advising on efficiency enhancements such as variable frequency drives (VFDs) and heat recovery techniques.
• Ensuring all HVAC designs and installations comply with industry regulations including API, NFPA, ASHRAE, OSHA, and Shell DEP standards.
• Validating explosion-proof compliance (Ex-d, Ex-e) and reviewing hazardous area classifications relevant to ventilation requirements.
• Managing vendor relationships by evaluating supplier proposals, conducting technical bid evaluations, witnessing factory acceptance tests (FAT), and inspecting equipment delivery.
• Coordinating with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to secure necessary approvals and maintain project alignment.

Qualifications and Skills

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or HVAC Engineering. Additional certifications are advantageous, such as a Professional Engineer (PE) license, ASHRAE certifications related to HVAC design or energy modeling, and competency in ATEX/IECEx standards for hazardous areas.

The candidate must bring over 10 years of HVAC engineering experience, particularly in petrochemical, refinery, or offshore settings. Practical knowledge with chilled water systems, direct expansion (DX) units, and pressurization systems is crucial. Familiarity with BMS and PLC controls, fire and smoke damper installations, and gas detection system integrations is also required.

Proficiency in HVAC design software like Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, and AutoCAD, along with deep understanding of international codes such as ASHRAE standards 15/34, NFPA 90A/91, and API 500/505, is essential to excel in this role.
