Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to join our contracting team based in Abqaiq, Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance and inspection activities focused on piping systems and structural steel works at operating oil and gas facilities. This critical role ensures asset integrity while adhering to Saudi Aramco standards and health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Engineer will be responsible for supervising maintenance tasks such as sandblasting, coating, sleeve and flange welding, pipe cutting, torquing, hydrotesting, and spool replacement within oil and gas facilities. Core duties include:

• Managing inspection and upkeep of process piping systems, utility pipelines (water, air, nitrogen, firewater), and both aboveground and underground pipelines.
• Monitoring for corrosion, erosion, or mechanical damage and verifying the condition of pipe supports, anchors, guides, and spring hangers.
• Inspecting and maintaining structural elements including pipe racks, equipment platforms, access ladders, stairways, and structural supports for vessels and piping.
• Identifying structural defects such as corrosion, deformation, loose bolts, and coating failures, and overseeing necessary repairs and reinforcements.
• Coordinating corrosion control efforts, including blast cleaning and painting, ensuring all coatings meet Saudi Aramco standards.
• Supporting inspection and reliability programs like Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), participating in root cause failure analysis (RCFA), and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Ensuring compliance with Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards (SAES), Materials System Specifications (SAMSS), the Saudi Aramco Work Permit System, and all HSE procedures.
• Coordinating operations among inspection and maintenance teams, reviewing contractor method statements, inspections test plans (ITPs), and preparing necessary work orders, material requisitions, and spare parts lists.
• Supporting planned shutdowns and turnaround activities to maintain facility integrity and uptime.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in oil and gas maintenance projects.
• Familiarity with Saudi Aramco standards and experience working on their projects is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and effective communication talents.
• Knowledge of piping stress, structural steel repair techniques, and bolting standards.
• Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods including Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT).
• Understanding of corrosion mechanisms common in oil and gas environments.
