Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Mechanical Estimator to join our team in Bahrain. This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates for complex projects involving control systems, HVAC, piping, and equipment installations. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of both instrumentation and mechanical systems and be comfortable working with clients, suppliers, and engineering teams to deliver competitive proposals.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of this position include:

  • Creating detailed cost estimates for instrumentation and mechanical projects such as control valve systems, transmitters, analyzers, HVAC, piping, and associated equipment.
  • Reviewing project drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure accurate quantification and costing.
  • Performing quantity take-offs for materials and equipment within instrumentation and mechanical scopes.
  • Obtaining and comparing quotes from various suppliers and subcontractors to select the most competitive offers.
  • Preparing and submitting comprehensive bid proposals and tender documents aligned with project requirements.
  • Collaborating closely with clients, consultants, engineers, and project managers to discuss scope and bid details.
  • Assessing both the technical aspects and commercial viability of projects to support sound estimation.
  • Visiting sites as necessary to gather firsthand information and validate project requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Between 3 to 5 years of experience specifically as an Instrumentation or Mechanical Estimator.
  • Previous work experience within the Gulf region is preferred, offering valuable familiarity with local regulations and standards.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation systems including control valves, transmitters, analyzers, and DCS/PLC platforms, as well as mechanical systems such as HVAC, piping networks, and process equipment.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and the ability to use AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for calculations and documentation.
  • Excellent analytical abilities combined with strong numerical and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage pressure effectively, meet tight deadlines, and handle several projects simultaneously.
  • Possession of an engineering degree or diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering is highly desirable.
