Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Planning Engineer specializing in industrial construction projects, located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role demands expertise in both Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) as well as Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) disciplines. The successful candidate will oversee project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, reporting, and coordination to ensure timely and successful delivery of warehouses, factories, cold stores, utility buildings, infrastructure, and steel structure projects. Immediate joining is available with Iqama transfer.

Key Responsibilities

The Planning Engineer will be responsible for creating detailed baseline and recovery schedules utilizing Primavera P6 and MS Project. This includes developing comprehensive work breakdown structures (WBS) across all CSA and MEP activities, such as HVAC, fire fighting, and infrastructure components. Daily, weekly, and monthly progress updates are essential, alongside close coordination with project stakeholders including managers, engineers, procurement teams, QA/QC, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and consultants.

Additional duties involve tracking engineering approvals, procurement milestones, fabrication, delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning tasks. The candidate must monitor long lead items, prepare manpower histograms, resource loading plans, productivity analyses, and cash flow forecasts. Identifying critical path activities, advising on potential delays, conducting delay analysis, and assisting in Extension of Time (EOT) claims will be key functions. The role also requires preparation of professional weekly and monthly reports presenting planned versus actual performance, critical path reviews, and recovery strategies.

Ensuring seamless coordination between CSA and MEP construction sequences to avoid conflicts and delays, reviewing project documentation for planning accuracy, and maintaining organized planning records and logs are also expected. The Planning Engineer will participate actively in progress review meetings, integrating testing and commissioning activities into the overall schedule.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, along with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in industrial construction projects involving both CSA and MEP scopes. Proficiency in Primavera P6 is mandatory, complemented by solid skills in MS Project and advanced Excel usage. A firm understanding of industrial construction methods and execution sequences for varied disciplines is essential.

Experience with project progress monitoring, delay analysis, recovery planning, procurement tracking, and multidisciplinary team coordination is required. Strong communication and presentation abilities are necessary to effectively liaise with diverse project participants. Candidates with prior experience working in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region will be preferred.
