Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Pre-Commissioning Engineer specializing in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) for pipeline projects based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in E&I systems within the oil and gas sector, particularly focusing on pre-commissioning activities to ensure seamless system functionality before project handover.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for executing all pre-commissioning tasks related to Electrical & Instrumentation systems. This includes conducting thorough loop checks, verifying cable continuity, performing insulation resistance (IR) testing, and carrying out functional testing. You will supervise instrument calibration, confirm installation integrity, and undertake signal testing to guarantee system readiness.
Collaborating closely with construction and commissioning teams, you will ensure that all systems comply with project specifications and safety protocols. Additionally, you will prepare detailed test reports, maintain checklists, identify faults or punch points, and address any system deficiencies. Support during commissioning and start-up phases will also be part of your responsibilities.
Required Skills and Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of Electrical & Instrumentation systems within oil and gas pipeline projects
- Practical hands-on experience with testing instruments such as meggers, loop calibrators, and multimeters
- Familiarity with SCADA, PLC, and DCS control systems
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical datasheets
- Strong troubleshooting skills and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication and coordination skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering. A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in oil and gas pipeline projects is required, with at least 3 years specifically in pre-commissioning or commissioning within Electrical & Instrumentation.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working on pipelines, pumping stations, or terminal projects. Familiarity with international standards such as IEC, API, and ISA is highly desirable. Experience working in the GCC region will also be considered an advantage.
Work Environment
This is a site-based position requiring the candidate to work in remote project locations. Flexibility and willingness to operate in these conditions are essential.
Compensation
The offered salary range is between 7,000 and 8,000 SAR basic, targeting candidates from an E&I background.
