Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Controller with expertise in managing the financial aspects of events and production projects. This role will be based in Riyadh and requires strong financial oversight skills to ensure projects are completed on budget and comply with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will be an Arabic speaker with a solid background in budgeting, cost control, procurement, and financial reporting within dynamic project environments.
Key Responsibilities
The Financial Controller will take full ownership of the financial operations for multiple events and production projects. Key duties include:
- Collaborating closely with Project Managers to prepare and monitor comprehensive event budgets covering pre-production, on-site activities, and post-event processes.
- Performing variance analysis in real-time to identify and mitigate potential overspending.
- Ensuring project profit margins are maintained by reviewing vendor quotes thoroughly and negotiating favorable payment terms.
- Managing vendor relationships, including onboarding suppliers and coordinating timely payments to freelancers, technicians, and equipment vendors.
- Overseeing cash flow, specifically handling petty cash and emergency procurement funds during active project phases.
- Supervising payroll processing for short-term staff and freelance workers linked to each event.
- Preparing detailed project-specific profit and loss statements to evaluate return on investment and financial performance after each event.
- Ensuring full compliance with applicable tax regulations such as VAT and withholding tax, alongside managing insurance requirements across various jurisdictions.
- Maintaining accurate and organized digital records of contracts, invoices, and expenses to facilitate audit readiness.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial management, preferably with events or production projects.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions and familiarity with project-based accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, or SAP.
- Ability to adapt swiftly to changing project scopes and fast-paced environments.
- Strong negotiation skills and financial analytical capabilities.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline is required. Candidates holding professional certifications like CPA, ACCA, or CIMA will be highly regarded.
