Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mobile Application Development Manager to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of Bupa’s mobile app suite. This role involves driving development best practices, translating UI/UX designs into high-quality mobile solutions, and enhancing user experience for Bupa’s customers. The position requires a balanced focus on hands-on coding (60%) and managing the mobile app development team (40%).

Key Responsibilities

As the Mobile App Development Manager, you will provide technical leadership, resolve development challenges, and ensure successful delivery of mobile applications. Your responsibilities include:

• Offering technical guidance and support to development team members on complex technical issues.
• Raising unresolved technical challenges to senior technical and group leads.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements for building a global and scalable e-commerce platform.
• Creating detailed Technical Design Documents (TDD) that align with Bupa’s architecture standards.
• Ensuring compliance with project processes, technical standards, and cybersecurity protocols.
• Participating actively in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to enhance development efficiency.
• Recommending improvements to enhance app reliability, scalability, security, maintainability, and performance.
• Developing efficient and testable mobile applications using the OutSystems platform.
• Contributing to the Change Advisory Board (CAB) to communicate development progress and updates.
• Implementing new features and upgrading existing Bupa mobile apps.
• Integrating Cordova plugins or developing new plugins as needed.
• Building modular, reusable components adhering to OutSystems architecture principles.
• Integrating data through SOAP and REST APIs from various backend services.
• Translating UX and UI designs into practical technical implementations.
• Supporting application testing, including penetration tests, and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
• Monitoring app performance and analyzing error logs with OutSystems analytics tools.
• Managing user activities through OutSystems Lifetime and Service Center platforms.
• Preparing detailed progress reports and participating in change request assessments and code reviews.
• Enhancing code quality using unit testing, automation, and peer code reviews.
• Overseeing deployment processes across development, QA, and production environments.
• Staying updated with the latest OutSystems technologies and identifying new components to extend app capabilities.
• Promoting knowledge sharing within the team by engaging in code reviews and skill enhancement sessions.
• Leading innovative digital initiatives aimed at improving customer experience, streamlining processes, automating workflows, and supporting business growth.
• Leveraging OutSystems monitoring tools to proactively manage application performance, analyze metrics, create dashboards, and troubleshoot potential issues.
• Evaluating and adopting new technologies to boost development efficiencies.

Required Skills

• Strong proficiency with C#.Net and OutSystems Service Studio & Integration Studio.
• Solid experience with OutSystems platform development, administration, or architecture.
• Hands-on knowledge of OutSystems Lifetime and Service Center for monitoring and management.
• Skilled in API integrations including SOAP and REST.
• Competent with web technologies such as JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, and .
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and software engineering standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proven leadership skills capable of managing and guiding development teams.
• Ability to multitask effectively and respond swiftly to challenges.
