Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) Subject Matter Expert to join a leading bank in the United Arab Emirates. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing IBM WAS environments to ensure high availability and robust performance.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves installation, implementation, upgrading, patching (using imcl), and monitoring of WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment (ND) and BASE environments. You will be tasked with maximizing uptime and performance across ND/BASE WebSphere instances as well as IBM HTTP Server and plugin systems.

Providing technical support and guidance to developers, operators, and administrators is a vital part of this position. You will develop an in-depth understanding of WebSphere clustering techniques to maintain high availability and disaster recovery capabilities. Additionally, creating and maintaining system utilities using Bash, Korn Shell, Jython, Jacl, and Java scripting is an essential duty.

The role also requires scripting expertise with wsadmin to automate WebSphere administration tasks, along with a thorough knowledge of J2EE standards, including JDBC configuration, JNDI directory services, SOAP, and web services integration.

Required Skills and Experience

• Hands-on experience with installation, upgrade, patching, and configuration of IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment and BASE environments
• Expertise in managing IBM HTTP Server and plugins
• Strong understanding of WebSphere security protocols including 2-way SSL, TLS, and other secure communication methods
• Proven ability to support and troubleshoot WebSphere environments and provide technical assistance to development and operations teams
• Experience with WebSphere clustering for high availability
• Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash, Korn Shell, Jython, Jacl, and Java for system utilities development
• Hands-on experience with wsadmin scripting
• Solid knowledge of J2EE application architecture, JDBC, JNDI, SOAP, and web services
• Demonstrated ability to maintain system availability and performance at enterprise scale
